Microneedling

A skin treatment that creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, which may support the skin’s natural renewal and improve the appearance of texture, fine lines and acne scarring over a course of sessions.

What it is and how it works

Microneedling uses a device with very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin. This prompts the skin’s own repair processes, which may gradually improve how the skin looks and feels, particularly uneven texture, fine lines and the appearance of acne scarring.

Changes are gradual rather than dramatic, and results vary from person to person. Microneedling is usually planned as a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart, as part of a broader skin plan agreed at your consultation.

What to expect

  • A consultation and skin assessment to determine whether microneedling suits your skin type and concerns.
  • If suitable, numbing cream is applied before treatment for comfort.
  • The treatment itself typically takes 30–45 minutes.
  • Written aftercare instructions, with a review before any further sessions.

Risks and recovery

Expect redness and mild sensitivity for 24–48 hours, similar to mild sunburn, sometimes with dryness or light flaking in the following days. Less common risks include pinpoint bleeding, breakouts, infection, and, particularly in deeper skin tones, temporary changes in pigmentation. Your individual risk profile is discussed at consultation.

Most people return to normal activities the next day. You will be advised to avoid make-up, active skincare and direct sun exposure for a short period, and daily sunscreen is essential during a treatment course.

Who it may not suit: microneedling may not be appropriate with active acne or cold sores, certain skin conditions, some medications, or a history of keloid scarring. A consultation is required to assess your individual suitability. Individual results vary, and no specific outcome can be promised.

Prefer a structured course?

Microneedling is usually planned as a series of sessions. The 90-Day Glow Method is our structured three-session program, spaced one month apart and reviewed at every step. As always, it begins with a consultation to confirm microneedling suits your skin.
